BODY, THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS, ARE THEY ALL CONNECTED?

As part of the listening exercise we did today in class, we all listened to the coach's sentence: "YOU DON'T RUN WITH YOUR LEGS, YOU RUN WITH YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEART". We started an interesting debate in class about the meaning of this sentence. Can you please leave your opinion here?

  1. I think this sentence makes me feel good because when I´m tired or depressed I read it and I feel I can do whatever I want.‏ Manolo Paredes

  2. I somehow agree with "the metaphor" that the coach used. That is, you "run" with your legs, but it depends on the situation in which you use "the mind and heart" or "the mind or heart." Something may not motivate you or may not "wake up" your feelings, but you have to do it and you have to use your mind. And other things may motivate you and if you like them you can useyour mind and heart. But feelings aren't something you can feel when you want, they are spontaneous. Feelings appear when you like something very much.

  3. I think that this sentence can be true, because for example, in a football match, if before playing it, you think that you'll win, maybe that can help your heart and your mind to do better. That also can help people to think that they can do whatever they want. If you believe in it, you'll be able to do it.

  4. I think that phrase has good reasons, since there are moments when the mind is stronger than the body. Also I think there should be a mixture of the two and we must exercise both. There are moments when the mind is very important and helps a lot. But the physical aspect is also important. So I think they should be balanced and you have to exercise both mind and body.

I think we really run with our legs but this
sentence tells us that if you run with your
body and your heart you will go faster.
I think this sentence wants to teach us that
in life if you do things with your mind as
so with your heart it will be easier and to
live as well we will be happier.
