In my opinion it's interesting that West Side Story, an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet has so many similarities with the original play. It has more similarities than differences what is quite good because there is the evidence that it's an adaptation.
ResponderEliminarThe characters are very similar. They just change their names because they do a similar role than in the original play.
In conclusion, I prefer the version of West Side Story than the ancient play Romeo and Juliet.
I think it's good to make adaptations and carry the old things in a new modern way. So now, people can understand better the story of Romeo and Juliet.
ResponderEliminarObviously, there are so many similarities, because it's based in the real story, and there are also some differences like the places and names. I prefer the West Side Story version because I liked the idea of making a musical, it's very original!

ResponderEliminarI agree with José and Almudena, due to I prefer the West Side Story version, maybe because both versions are interesting but the West Side Story is quite entertaining because of the songs and more things, for instance, the place (New York), the original idea of the two differents gangs, etc...
To conclude, I really advise to people to see the movies! However, both are a classic, and West Side Story remains one of the best musical of all-time.

ResponderEliminarI think like Irene, I prefer Romeo and Juliet because I do not like musicals but although West Side Story is a really good adaptation of this fantastic play, because of the way that the director adapted Romeo and Juliet. A amazing characteristic of this film is that all the scenes were recorded indoors. So for me,West Side Story is a good adaptation,
ResponderEliminarAs I was one of the authors of the presentation, I agree with this presentation. I agree with Almudena, Jose and Carmen and, personally, I prefer the original Romeo and Juliet, I like musicals but, this one was very annoying sometimes, it has got too many songs.
ResponderEliminarIn my opinion the movie West side story is a good remake of the story of Romeo and Juliet. There are hundreds of remakes about this story but almost all of them are the same, but in this movie there are some differences that reminds us to the Shakespeare's play like the main characters that are psychologically similar to Romeo and Juliet but they aren't the same persons

ResponderEliminarIn my opinion both stories are beautiful, but I like classics films and I don't like musical films, so I prefer the original version of the film. Also, in West Side Story, the story is changed and I was waiting for an "epic" final of the film.
Sorry for been to late to write this coment... At my point of view, this presentation show perfectly how can we change a classical history and introduce it nowadays. I love west side history, the music explain very good the feels between Maria and tony, but in some cases didn't explain anything. The classical Romeo and Juliet is bored. But at the final of West side story don't impact me. Congratulations girls for this presentations! I hope you will go in the same line :)
